The main concern is comfort. Your dress will be weather-dependent. Depending on the type and intensity of your balloon ride, you’ll want to dress in ways that accommodate for weather changes. Closed-toed shoes are advantageous in areas that have grassy takeoff zones. Hats are advised! Avoid sun exposure!
Our flights take off and start around the level of the tree tops. They proceed to increase height to about 3,000 feet at most. The pilot will base much of the altitude on the wind direction and speed. The pilot adjusts the balloon to rise and fall to catch gusts of wind. This creates height variation.
Overall, the flight experience will take about four hours. The inflation process will take roughly 45 minutes. If all goes well with your group and the pilot, a champagne celebration might be customary! It can certainly happen, especially with late-day flights.
This is where the chase crew comes in. Not only is the chase crew responsible for the deflation of the balloon, but they’re responsible for tracking the entire balloon riding and ensuring the safe return of all members of the flight. They will be the ones who will return you and your companions to your original destination.
Although this type of ride can frighten those with fear of heights, the balloon ride is quite peaceful, due to the floating feeling of the air balloon basket. Our pilots also possess incredible experience, which is relaxing in itself. You may want to try a tethered flight for the full experience!
It makes the most sense to take off in the early hours of the morning or as few hours before the sun sets. This is important because the winds are usually extremely gentle during these time periods. This will contribute to a safer, less-frightening balloon ride experience. There are plenty of different things and experiences to be gathered from the different times of flights. From sunrises to sunsets, there’s entertainment in each type of balloon ride! Watch the globe spin both ways.
